S.M.A.R.T. Health Goals

Goals that are either accessible or difficult to accomplish allow more motivation than goals with restrain difficulty levels. Setting realistic and wellness goals is your primary step.

Specific,

Measurable,

Attainable,

Realistic,

Timely.

 

Specific

Setting a completely general health goal is counterproductive. Example: “I need to eat healthier” or “I need to eliminate stress from my life” is far too general. When drafting your purpose, try to answer the five “W” questions:

What do I need to accomplish?

Why is this purpose essential?

Who’s involved?

Wherein is it located?

Which resources or limits are involved?

 

Measurable

Check in with yourself frequently to measure progress toward your purpose.

A measurable purpose has to deal with questions such as:

How much?

How many?

How will I know when it is accomplished?

These questions assist you to stay focused, meet your time limits, and experience the pleasure of getting towards attaining your purpose.

 

Attainable

If it is a huge goal, there may be many steps to finish and levels to go through before you attain your remaining purpose. Do some research so that you understand what you need to do and the way to do it?

An achievable goal will usually answer questions such as:

How can I achieve this goal?

How realistic is the goal, based on other limitations, such as financial factors?

 

Realistic

Starting with small goals and operating as much as the larger ones might also help your motivation. So, keep away from putting impossible expectations for yourself to push yourself further.

A relevant goal can answer “yes” to these questions:

Does this seem valuable?

Is this the right time?

Does this correspond our other efforts/needs?

Am I the right person to attain this goal?

Is it useful in the current socio-economic environment?

Timely

Setting a date or time frame in which to complete your purpose might also help you get in the proper mindset to attain the goal.

A time-bound goal will usually answer these questions:

When?

What can I do six months from now?

What can I do six weeks from now?

What can I do today?
