WHAT DOES YOUR BODY LANGUAGE SAY ABOUT YOU?

Body language can reveal a lot about our feelings towards the person we are speaking to. Bellow is 7 body language postures and what they mean.

1 A GAP IN A GROUP OF PEOPLE MEANS YOU CAN ENTER

If you want to get in on a group of people talking, pay attention to the way their feet are pointed and to whether or not there are gaps. If there’s a wide gap in the circle, with the feet pointing away from the circle, those people may be open to mingling with others. A tightly closed circle with all feet pointing in may mean the group doesn’t want to speak with others.

2 A HAND OVER THE MOUTH MIGHT MEAN THAT PERSON DISAGREES WITH YOU

If you’re talking to someone who is covering their mouth, it may not just be disbelief. If the person you are speaking with has a hand covering their own mouth, they may disagree with you and are literally trying to stop themselves from speaking. Pay attention to what their eyes say as well.

3 AN EYE ROLL SHOWS CONTEMPT

Condescending behavior is pretty easy to spot. If someone feels superior to you or feels contempt, you might see raised eyebrows with a smirk, rolled eyes or they may avoid eye contact altogether. You may notice exasperated sighs or a condescending tone of voice. That person probably isn’t worth continuing a conversation with.

4 A HAND ON YOUR HIP MIGHT MEAN YOU’RE ANNOYED

You definitely don’t want to see the person you’re talking to or looking at staring at you with their hand on their hip. Standing with one’s hands on the hips is generally considered a sign of aggression and even bullying. This is a more aggressive stance that you’ll want to watch out for.

5 CROSSED ARMS IS NOT AS GREAT

What you don’t want to see when talking to someone is closed-off body language, like a person crossing their arms over their chest. Crossed arms (blocking the central body), often signals being closed off to communication and connection. In other words, they don’t feel like chatting.

6 OPEN BODY LANGUAGE IS A GREAT SIGN

When you’re talking to someone, you want them to look totally engaged. Open body language, like showing the palms of the hands, open eyes, lifted eyebrows, and a big genuine smile all indicate that someone is engaged and enjoying your conversation.

7 THE WAY YOUR FEET ARE POINTED CAN REVEAL IF YOU’RE OPEN TO CONVERSATION

The next time you’re in a conversation with someone and you’re not sure if they’re interested, glance down at their feet. People’s feet point towards who they are interested in talking to. If the feet are pointed away from you, that person may be seeking an exit. If you’re sitting down, pay attention to the position of their legs; if someone’s legs are crossing towards you, that’s a good sign.
